Hi, I’m El,

Understanding children has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Long before I had almost 20 years of experience working in education, I grew up in a home where children were already a huge part of everyday life. My mum was a childminder, so from a very early age I was surrounded by children of different ages, personalities, needs and abilities.

Since then, I’ve come to understand children from lots of different perspectives. I’m a teacher and educational professional, but I’m also an auntie, a friend to parents, and I’ve previously been a step-mum. That means I understand both the professional side and the deeply personal side of wanting to help a child and not always knowing what to try next.

Over nearly two decades of working directly with children, one belief has stayed at the heart of everything I do:

Behaviour is communication.

Behind the meltdowns, the shouting, the refusal, the withdrawal or the behaviour that seems to come from nowhere, there is always something more going on underneath. My work is about helping adults understand what they are seeing, what a child may be trying to communicate, and what to do next in a way that is practical, compassionate and realistic.

That is why I created The El Boden Method — to help adults feel more confident, children feel more understood, and families move forward with the right support.

Why I Created The El Boden Method

Over the years, I kept seeing the same thing happen. A child would be struggling, the adults around them would genuinely want to help, yet everyone could end up feeling frustrated, overwhelmed or unsure of what to try next.

Too often, the focus became the behaviour itself — stopping the shouting, the refusal, the meltdown or the disruption — rather than understanding what might be happening underneath it.

I wanted to create something different.

The El Boden Method brings together nearly 20 years of experience, the lessons I’ve learned from working directly with children, and my belief that children do well when they feel understood, supported and safe.

It is not about blaming parents. It is not about labelling children. It is not about expecting families to follow an unrealistic set of rules perfectly.

It is about helping adults become curious about behaviour, recognise what a child may be communicating, and respond with practical strategies that can actually work in real life.

My aim is simple: to help children feel understood, help adults feel more confident, and make family life feel a little less overwhelming.

There is no such thing as a “naughty child”. There is a child whose behaviour is telling us something.

Almost 20 Years of Working With Real Children — Not Textbook Ones

For almost 20 years, I’ve worked directly with children in education. During that time, I’ve experienced the real moments that don’t always fit neatly into a textbook — when a child is overwhelmed, when behaviour escalates, when learning feels impossible, or when the strategies that should work simply don’t.

I’ve worked with children with a wide range of personalities, strengths, needs and experiences. Time and again, I’ve seen the difference it makes when we stop concentrating solely on stopping behaviour and start becoming curious about why it is happening in the first place.

I don’t believe in perfect children, perfect parents or perfect classrooms.

I believe in curiosity before judgement, connection before correction, and giving adults practical tools they can genuinely use in everyday life.

That experience — both professional and personal — is what eventually became The El Boden Method.

Practical, Compassionate Support

Strategies designed for real families, not perfect textbook situations.

What It's Like Working With Me

I know how vulnerable it can feel to ask for help when you’re worried about a child. You may already have tried countless strategies, questioned yourself, or wondered why something that seems to work for everyone else simply isn’t working for you.

When we work together, there is no judgement and no expectation of perfection.

I’ll listen to what life actually looks like for you and your child, help you make sense of the behaviour you’re seeing, and work with you to find practical next steps that fit your family.

You won’t be given a list of impossible rules or made to feel as though you should already know the answers.

You’ll have someone beside you who is curious, compassionate and focused on helping you understand your child, not forcing them into somebody else’s idea of how they should behave.

My aim is for you to leave feeling calmer, clearer and more confident about what to do next.

The Bigger Picture

The El Boden Method is about more than building a business.

I created it because I genuinely believe that when adults understand what a child’s behaviour is communicating, things can begin to change — not only in that difficult moment, but in the way a child understands themselves, manages their emotions and moves forward through life.

I want the support I create to be practical, compassionate and genuinely useful. Whether somebody downloads a free resource, attends a webinar, books a Clarity Call or chooses to work with me more deeply, I want them to come away with something that helps.

However, my hope for The El Boden Method reaches further than the families and professionals I work with directly.

As the business grows, my aim is to use part of that success to make practical behaviour and emotional-regulation support more accessible to schools, families and communities that might not otherwise have access to it.

That might mean resources, workshops, community projects or other forms of support as The El Boden Method develops. I don’t know exactly what that will look like yet — but I know why I want to build it.

I want The El Boden Method to create brighter futures not only for the children I can reach today, but for many more children in the years to come.
